Since 2006, Galerie Falkenstern Fine Art has been located in the converted studio of the German painter Siegward Sprotte (1913-2004) in Kampen in the Alte Dorfstraße on the isle of Sylt.
A place for art, discussions and encounters
Here the focus has been on contemporary art from Europe, the USA, China and India as well as the estate of Siegward Sprotte. During his lifetime, Sprotte held studio talks here in Kampen, met friends and companions from all over the world and thus made his studio a cosmopolitan meeting place. This tradition is continued today with exhibitions, lectures and concerts.
„Art is not a substitute, it is a vital necessity.“
Siegward Sprotte
Today Falkenstern Fine Art complements Siegward Sprotte’s estate with specially selected contemporary art. With exhibitions in renowned museums such as the Pushkin Museum (1989), the Gulbenkian Museum (1993), the Shanghai Art Museum (1996) or the Wuhan Art Museum (2011), the international recognition for Sprotte’s oeuvre grew.
We carefully select and curate our exhibitions in Kampen, the Gallery provides exciting impulses and opens up new perspectives every month.
