"Theatrum Radix" is a transdisciplinary virtual reality and exhibition project, created by Berlin based visual artist Marlene Bart and Ikonospace.

Through surreal nature narratives, in connection with CT scans from the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and the design of a modern knowledge architecture, the project ties in with a theme that has occupied mankind since the ancient world. The order of things and beings.

The content of the project is based on Marlene Bart's artistic research on encyclopedic metaphors of the world and order in the early modern period, traces of which can still be found in exhibitions and collections in the age of digitalization. The project highlights the relevance of a transdisciplinary dialogue between art and natural history in order to develop new models of knowledge that question previous anthropocentric ways of thinking.
